This book was published before Villepin was blamed for the youth riots in Paris, when he was still seen as the likely successor to Chirac. These political speeches are written with the skill of a poet (which Villepin happened to be before entering politics). The keystone is his amazing speech to the United Nations opposing the U.S.'s invasion of Iraq--"violence is a failure of the imagination".
