Ruck
by Holly S. Roberts
ARC received for an honest review
We met Van Stenson in the previous book in the series, Kick - you don't have to have read it as there is enough background, but why would you want to miss all the rucking goodness?
In the aftermath of events in Kick, Van is licking his wounds a little, and just not his usual self. He's a little despondent really.
Danny is his best friend, and the girl he never thought he wanted - but once that idea is in his head, she is all he can think about.
I loved how Danny didn't fall into his bed like all the other "sports whores" have done in the past. I loved how she made him fight for her attention.
The chemistry between Van and Danny was palpable - whether is was love or hate, it was there. You could feel the emotions roll off Van as he comes to realise his feelings for Danny. Not just his current feelings, but in hindsight how he has felt in the past too.
After Kick, I kind of felt that Van deserved to be the way he is in the beginning of Ruck, but as the story unfolded I kind of adored him more and more.
Ruck is a quick story about not seeing what is right in front of your eyes. But for a quick read, is packed a hell of a punch.
