Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
4.0

Oh I wish I had written this review earlier.

It's the story of a young American actress in Italy in the 1960s who ends up in a tiny hamlet on the Italian coast. It's the story of the men (and women) who enter and leave her orbit over the years and the productor who made the move. Think of them as the foci of an ellipse.

Walter is a beautiful writer and his background of an journalist is evident in his novels. This is nothing like The Cold Millions - not much political commentary here. But it's about living life and regrets and was a pleasure to read.
