Planet of Exile by Ursula K. Le Guin

3.0

Neither grief nor pride had so much truth in them as did joy, the joy that trembled in the cold wind between sky and sea, bright and brief as fire.

One of Le Guin's earliest novels, by length it's more of a novella. While her prose here doesn't reach her later heights, it is an interesting enough story that helps flesh out the Hainish universe.
