I loved this book so much!!! I found it to be really intense and heart pounding. So much so that I had to put it down at times just to come down from what I was reading. It wasn't just the chemistry between the MCs that was intense but also the post-apocalyptic world they lived in and the skirmishes that would happen. Then there were the conditions the humans were living in and the threat what would happen to the MCs is they were caught and what that could mean for both of them. It was just all very intense rollercoaster of a ride, and I loved it.
I felt so bad for what everyone in this world was going through but my heart just kept breaking for Juliet as it was one bad thing after another and at times it really looked like there was no light at the end of the tunnel for her. But then you had Silas whose growing obsession actually helped her in her times of needs first as a friend and then so much more. I just loved the two of them together and not just for the chemistry which made for some super spicy moments but also the growth of their relationship/feelings just kept me hoping that in the end they would get their happy ending as it always seemed like a long shot at times. Which is why I had to really really fight the urge not to skip to the last chapter to make sure they ended up together.

This was a dark and intense story and it was the first one I have read by this author, but I had been really wanting to read her work and I was not disappointed. This author can WRITE!!

This book is about the world falling victim to a virus that unalived humans and turned the newly discovered vampires into zombies. To protect the remaining humans, they are rounded up into compounds where if you are lucky, you are at the ones where they take care of your every need but harvest you for blood.... if you're lucky. All of this is done to protect the humans of course because the vampires or feeders are the one in charge of the compound to keep them safe from the afflicted. However, it's no picnic even in this type of compound as there are loads of rules even for human-to-human interactions let alone human and feeder interactions. However, that's never been an issue for Juliet until a new guard seems to be watching her every time she sees him. And as irresistible as he seems to be for a feeder that is, it is forbidden for them to be anything more than feeder and a blood bag. But he seems to be growing more and more obsessed with her and that won't end well for either of them.

I recieved a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
