The Lost Daughter by Elena Ferrante

4.0

I really enjoy Ferrante's way of writing but I enjoyed this less than My Brilliant Friend. I realised like 1/3 of the way through that I had actually watched the film for this book before. That lessened my enjoyment of it weirdly because I feel like the tone of the book is quite a mysterious and you're not meant to know where the story is going. Nonetheless you really get into the head of the mother- it really emotionally affected me at points. She writes very honestly about her conflicted experience of raising children. And that was really moving.
