Seven Ages of Paris by Alistair Horne

4.0

This is a romantic history of Paris from 1180 to 1969. It is educational and fascinating, but also feels like a love letter or biography. I thoroughly enjoyed the Fourth to Seventh Ages, as the first three Ages felt more like histories of the French kings rather than ages of Paris. From Louis XIV to Charles De Gaulle, however, the book exploded with information and stories. This book helped me fall in love with the Ville Lumière.
