I was super hooked into this book. It is extremely immersive and thrilling without being gory or sexual, which is refreshing.
But, the ending annoyed me. As a person who is not catholic and doesn’t understand the church, I was just a little miffed thatthe big “scandal” was Benitez being intersex.
It didn’t land well as a “twist” for me. I think we could have been fine without the last chapter.
