Anne of Avonlea

3.5/5 Stars
I knew that no sequel was ever going to live up to how much I love the original Anne of Green Gables book for how nostalgic I am for it, but this was still pretty good. There were a few parts that I didn't enjoy, particularly the way that they spoke about the girl twin Dora and the whole Jonah's Day chapter, and there was some aspects to the story that I feel like were underdeveloped, like Anne's friendship with Gilbert or Anne's relationship with her students- and the twins became very underused in the second half of the book-, but it was still a very enjoyable read. I had fun and a lot of the characters and stories were sweet and likable. I adore Miss Lavender and nearly every time Anne and Marilla interacted with each other I was so glad for how close they were, it really was so nice to see how much they've grown since the start of the first book and they really are like a mother and an close-to-adult daughter.
Solid read despite its flaws, I will definitely continue to read the series.
