I had to give this a 5 star review. I already found the subject matter interesting enough, being that I have a couple friends who did the AT, and being on the east coast I wanted to know more. All that I can say is that I learned a great amount, and was fully entertained. Especially the first half, maybe 2/3 of the book where the author and Katz are hiking. Laugh out loud funny! Like stop often and say "Honey, (laughs hysterically) Honey, listen to this..." and then not 5 minutes later doing it again b/c it's just so witty and charming you need to immediately share. Things drop a bit, obviously, when Katz flies home and Bryson is doing day hikes and espousing massive knowledge about wildlife, history of the trail etc, but then Katz re-enters and I clap wildly yay! Katz is back! I'll sorely miss being in their company. Will certainly be reading more of his books!!
