Well, I made it through the whole series! In the end, I liked this one, and I could definitely see Sanderson's influence on the series (in a very good way). There was a good chunk in the middle where I didn't think I was going to be able to get through more descriptions of fighting trollocs, but it was worth it. Spoiler I really liked the idea that Rand had to let go of the idea that it was all his responsibility, and accept that it was "not about me". There are definite religious overtones to the idea that people will always fight against the darkness, and be willing to sacrifice themselves, but it's still a very hopeful message. I was also *really* pleased that Rand came to the realization that the shadow couldn't exist without the light and vice versa, so killing the dark one would make him no better. However, I thought the very end, with Rand and Moridin somehow switching bodies so Rand got to survive after all, but without any of the responsibility seemed a bit trite. I was also disappointed there wasn't more about the after effects. Yes they won the battle, but there was a lot of other stuff to be tied up. How are they going to cope with the Seanchan? What are they going to do about Graendal? (I didn't particularly like the weave backfiring and enslaving her. Just one more example of the numerous deus ex machina last minute rescues).
