My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
3.0
The main problem I had with this book was the ending. I felt that the book should have ended either when the court case ended, or with Kate dying. I know the latter may seem harsh, but I know a great deal about leukemia, and I honestly do not believe Kate would have lived even with a kidney transplant. Miracles happen, but that is quite a stretch in my opinion.
Furthermore, I wanted to see Anna finally get to live her life as she wanted to, without being held back by her sister's illness. Anna never really had a chance to be a child, and the book did not allow her to be an adult, either.
I also felt that the ending was too quick. The rest of the book had an enormous amount of development and progressed slowly. The fast ending interrupted the overall flow of the book.
The story itself, however, was compelling. Picoult addressed a difficult issue, and she presented her readers with every side of the story. I loved that aspect of the book. I love that she gave every character a chance to voice his/her opinion of the situation.
