I really wasn't sure what to make of this book when I started reading it -- one of the most startling first lines ever -- but soon enough I was wrapped up in the story and more so, the characters. I came to care very much about the two main girls in the story. Both are caught up in no-win situations and it hurt my heart to watch them try to do their best. I'm very glad I read this book, even if it did break my heart.
