A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

3.5

This is significantly better than the first book. I enjoyed the new characters and like Feyre much more now. I can see why this is a favorite for many. The plot is interesting but some things happen pretty conveniently. For characters that are often described as highly intelligent and cunning, they make some pretty stupid mistakes. Some mistakes are retroactively explained to make the characters' decisions more understandable. Characters are a huge part of why I will like or dislike a book, and while there are good characters here, they do not feel consistent to me. If they were actively growing to be better or worse, I would enjoy that, but instead their choices are made to fit what the plot needs rather than to make sense with the characterization.
