I read this book because it was review bombed by Cait Corrain, but unfortunately I am also rating it pretty low because it just wasn’t very good. People are mad because it’s a colonizer romance, which is a whole separate conversation, but honestly, aside from that, it’s just still not that good. The book is mainly comprised over the FMC endlessly endlessly agonizing over the choices she makes, for pages and pages of almost every chapter. I get she’s conflicted but it’s the same thing over and over. She doesn’t develop at all. The other characters are flat and the development of the relationship with Antony comes out of nowhere and makes no sense. The writing was like, fine, but it was also awkward in a lot of places and the ~lyrical description~ was super overblown. There’s a lot else but just like. It wasn’t very good.
