The Passage by Justin Cronin
3.0
It’s hard to rate this novel, since I found it very uneven. I feel it’s like a mix of Michael Crichton, MR Carey, The Strain trilogy, and Walking Dead, which should have been a winning concept, but it didn’t manage to maintain quality all the way through.
The beginning was really intriguing and had me hooked right away. But I had a hard time keeping track of all the characters, so when it skipped forward and introduced a whole new set of characters I was slightly discouraged, and it took a while before it managed to catch my interest again. And it went on like that throughout the book, some parts were really good, and others were bland padding. I actually skimmed through bits and pieces that felt reduntant.
But since I managed to get through almost 800 pages, I suppose it was alright.
