Leave the Grave Green by Deborah Crombie

4.0

his was a quick read, but it was also a story that drew me in. The book starts with the death of a young boy by drowning years before. Now years later, the boy's sister has just lost her husband to drowning. The death is suspicious, and because of the family involved, Scotland Yard is brought in. This is one of the earlier Gemma and Duncan books. Gemma is relatively fresh from her divorce while Duncan has closed himself off from emotional encounters. However that changes when he meets Julia, the wife of the dead man. Unfortunately, she is a suspect which makes his attraction dangerous. Plus Gemma is fighting feelings that are developing toward him. Although I'm not a huge fan of romance in books like this, Crombie handles it well. It's not the main focus of the book. This was an interesting story. I figured it out mostly by process of elimination, but it still comes with an interesting twist.
