If you worry that this will deviate too far from the Mouse Guard you know and love, fear no more!

Legends of the Guard was absolutely incredible. I was worried. The idea seems absurd! Bring in a dozen other creators to play around in the world you created!? While it sounds crazy, it was done so absolutely perfectly.

Petersen wrote and illustrated the setting scenes which happen to be June Alley Inn. Mice gather at the end of a day to tell stories over drinks. The best storyteller has their tab cleared at the end of the night. Each story is told by a different mouse which is both illustrated and written by a different artist, most of whom are friends of Petersen's.

All of this works so well. Sure, there were some stories I loved more than others. There were some art styles that I preferred over others. But they are all excellent in their own rights.

My favorites: Bowen's Tale and Crown of Silver, Crown of Gold.
