I am really liking my foray into the world of Steinbeck. This is obviously a much shorter book than Grapes, but still, in just a hundred or so pages, he can still capture the angst, the pain, the cruelty of the men and women trying anything and everything they can just to survive and even thrive.
It's a phenomenally good book, well worth a second read down the road, even if it isn't quite up to the ranks of Grapes. Given enough pages, it very well could be.
