Between Heaven and the Real World: My Story by Ken Abraham, Steven Curtis Chapman

emotional hopeful inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

Steven Curtis Chapman’s music was basically the background soundtrack of my childhood, thanks to my parents, and I still know many of his songs by heart. This book reveals Steven’s journey to becoming a songwriter and performer, and the inspiration behind many of his most well-known songs as he navigates his relationship with his wife, his children (both biological and adopted), his career, and of course the tragic accident that took the life of his youngest daughter, Maria. It’s heartbreaking, but still so full of hope and love! He’s very honest about his low points and his shortcomings in a way that feels very relatable. I had his music playing in the background several times as I read, especially when specific songs were mentioned. (Especially Cinderella!)
