Mix the wit we've come to expect from Lian Dolan with a serious adult topic, stir in wonderful details about great travel destinations, heat it all up with some romance, add a fantastic title and you've got "The Marriage Sabbatical". As Dolan has said about her latest novel, it is a story about a marriage, about a long-time relationship. It isn't a break-up story but rather a searching, questioning and rebuilding project undertaken by two very interesting people who have spent decades together but find themselves filled with doubts and desires. The novel doesn't pretend to be a self-help book or a how-to marriage manual. It is a fun and funny look at serious life choices and a very satisfying read!
