ugh i thoroughly enjoyed this so much like i couldn't stop smiling and giggling!! besides the romcom aspect, this book HAD LAYERS like with the science academia world especially with women in stem!! like i felt the feminine rage in this one which i LOVED! not only is the slowburn romance amazing, i also loved elsie's characterization as a chronic people pleaser where she would change herself to please others and her character just resonated with me in the sense where if she shows people her true self, people would stop loving her and leave.

“you gave him a perfect version of you, and he still didn’t want you,”

elsie has become one of my favorite characters! she felt real and authentic! also jack recognizing this people pleaser side of her where she would change herself for others and wanting her to stop LIKE HE SEES HER!!! AND LETS HER BE HERSELF AND LOVES HER

i will always love the dynamic of pathological people pleaser with anxiety x acts of service obsessed protector!! what can i sayyy
