I had such high hopes for this one and it just fell completely flat for me. Between the insensitivity of dealing with a character who clearly has severe depression to the seeming lack of love between the two leads for the vast majority of the book, this book was a bit of a difficult one to get through. While I appreciated the attempt to tackle a topic so difficult as depression/suicide and I can respect the true grief and trauma that surviving family members must endure, this treated the one facing those mental difficulties as a burden on the family.
While there were some redeeming qualities and scenes (at least enough for me to keep reading), I can't warrant giving this one a spot among enjoyable reads. I feel like Eloise deserved better.
