The Grief Keeper by Alexandra Villasante
3.0

3. 5- This book is captivating and meaningful as it covers numerous hard topics. It tackles the hardship of humans deemed “illegal” and what that can mean in terms of the livelihood. It also tackles grief, depression, family, and struggles of LGBT youth. It does feel at times like there is a lot cramped in the pages, and although I felt a connection with Marisol, the other characters felt a little flat to me. Still an evocative book that I look forward to recommending to my high school students.
