Ask for Andrea by Noelle W. Ihli

5.0

Ask for Andrea has been one of my favorite reads of 2024. It's rare to find such a unique twist on a serial killer mystery/thriller, but this book masterfully redefines the trope. The story provides just enough unsettling detail to convey the gravity of the situation without resorting to graphic descriptions.

One of the standout features of this book is its narrative structure. The girls narrate some of James's unsuccessful attempts and his home life, offering a fresh perspective that would have been very different if told by his wife, the cops, neighbors, or even James himself.

The title, Ask for Andrea, is cleverly woven into the narrative and ties the book up nicely. It’s a fresh angle that I thoroughly enjoyed. This was my first book by this author, and it certainly won’t be the last. You can bet I’ll be rushing to the library to snatch up another one of their works ASAP.
