I liked spending time in Elizabethan England. It’s clear harkness did her research, and I appreciated how clearly she could describe that era! And all the characters that inhabited it were fleshed out and interesting. I felt the same grief at leaving them behind as Diana did.
I also felt, though, that there was a lot happening that wasn’t necessary, and the book dragged on at parts. The way they talk about sex, too, was rough and awkward. I appreciate that it wasn’t super detailed, but it was weird how carefully it wasn’t talked about.
