It is unfair that a book that is not even 100 pages long affected me so much. Dazai has some absolutely beautiful lines that will stick with me for years and it’s a really touching story! I didn’t realise it was a sequel to No Longer Human until I started reading it and at first I was like “did it need a sequel” but I’m so happy I read it. The structure of the novella is also really fucking cool! I haven’t seen anything like it and definitely not anything that is done as well as this! I’m fascinated by it and it was really inspiring. It got me thinking about different structures then I’m familiar with and I’m considering experimenting with structures and narratives that I have never worked with before and I love reading something that inspires me in a ways I haven’t thought about before. I absolutely loved this book and I will be rereading it many, many things.
