I’ve read this several times (and, of course, watched the movie dozens of times). Reading it with the Welty House Book club has been a wonderful experience—I’m seeing so much more in it this time.
Including what an interesting character Charlotte Bartlett is! And Professor Kelly Marsh’s insights have been the best, as she has led the discussions. I’ve especially appreciated her analysis of the different narrative approaches throughout, how it goes from omniscient to even free indirect discourse at times.
