The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff
4.0

More focused in scope than the expansive Matrix, this skillfully unfolding tale follows the unnamed heroine fleeing from her community and through the wilds of nature & the men who endanger her, whilst filling us in on what led her to this action (from childhood to the boat to the new world and the settlers reality and a sick step-father). Groff is a master of language and description and once you have unlocked the flow of the action enough to get a grasp on the timeline and characters, it's apparent bleak landscape and prospects reveal greater richness and attraction. And what future could hold attraction for her? Possibly a world without men will all their danger & threat to a woman in times when they had zero rights.
