wowza I’m so surprised
This book was…terrific. Listen I’m down as much as the next girl for whirlwind, steamy romances. I have an addiction to sexy two week flings that blossom extraordinarily quickly into life long love declarations. But this book….it’s not just smut or a quick read. The world building, the(I wouldn’t really call it slow burn but I suppose it is in comparison to Ruby’s other works) slow-burn romance, the fleshed out characters….where can I get a battle storm god, hello????
And I’m sorry but I’m giving the world building another round of applause. I picked this book up for the sex scenes and left with a love for the lore. If you think I’m not going to read this obsessively at least 5 more times, boy are you wrong.
Faith is hilarious and resourceful. Something that bugs me sometimes with adult romance heroines is their incessant need to put themselves in danger just to spite the love interest or it’s just a plot device to explain growing attraction. Faith isn’t that. She’s smart, she knows when shes beat, and she has a healthy dose of self preservation. Kinda sad I have to applaud that, but here we are.
But I guess I should get to the meat and potatoes of this one sided circle jerk, I recommend this book. You want an adult romance with believable build up? You want action and adventure? You want toe curling intimacy and the deep desire to find yourself transported to another world? This is the book for you. I’m honestly surprised not more people are talking about this book. It needs its own tik tok highlight lol.
Anyways, keep truckin on my fellow romance/smut readers. I’m very certain this book won’t disappoint.
