Orlando by Virginia Woolf
3.0

Ah Orlando. I gave you up after reading the book halfway. Then I got assigned this book for a class, so I read it to the end. For someone who prefers to read books grounded in realism, Orlando seemed nonsensical. That was before I became acquainted with the entire genre of historiographic metafiction (I'm not making it up). Books like these are not supposed to make sense. They do not conform to reality because reality is beneath them. Why would you want Orlando to be a white anti-vaxx mommy when she could be an aspiring, gender-bending poet stuck in an endless loop of life and time intertwined?
I bet reading this book would be more fun if you do it when high. Just a suggestion. Do I enjoy reading or writing magical realism? Not unless you pay me a shit ton or base my grades on it. Would I recommend Orlando to anyone? Yes, because this book is an experience and you can always put it down if you don't like it.
