A Lady's Formula for Love by Elizabeth Everett
2.0
The founder of a secret society of female scientists has the target on back! To keep her safe, her step-son hired her a bodyguard whom she could not help but have feelings for.
Okay, I thought I wasn't going to make it through this book. I loved the idea of having a secret society, girl power and all that. I don't think it lacked on that aspect as one of its selling points. However, what I felt lacking was the romance itself.
I don't feel any tension between the characters. They both seemed flat for me. I wish Arthur had more restraint with his feelings so we would feel his burning desire, but no we didn't really get that. I don't think there's chemistry between them as well.
Maybe it would have helped there wasn't a lot of information from the get-go and let us get to know the characters better first. But since this is a short book, I think it's unavoidable. There was a lot of side characters and I don't think that's really good for a romance novel.
Anyway, it's a little bit steamy so it gets points for that.
