The 13th Hour by Richard Doetsch

2.0

I agree with one of the previous reviews - this is a nice and casual summer read. Nothing groundbreaking.
It's the first book that I ever read that was blatantly written to be adapted into the movie. If the story in general doesn't give this vibe, than the obvious promise of the sequel at the end (in really cinematic fashion) screams end of the movie scene.
The characters were a bit too stereotypical - the good ones were perfect in body and mind, while the bad ones were evil, unattractive and sometimes really stupid. At times I could hardly believe that the main hero, who was essentially "sitting-behind-the-desk" kind of guy (even if he worked out regularly and was an outdoorsman), could suddenly transform in a gun wielding super agent.
Take out the paranormal aspect of the book, and you have your average action flick in a paper form.
