This novel was quite the story. I thought the premise was very intriguing and finally dove in when my book club chose it for our monthly pick. At first I really disliked the main character: I thought she was really mean, annoying, and wasn’t going to take anything seriously enough to actually do anything during this novel. By the end of the story however, I had really come around to her and realized that she was just scared and sarcastic and I grew to really care about her and rooting for her (and Billy) to solve her murder. The ending surprised me, both in terms of the twisty conclusion, but also in how emotional it was when we knew coming into this novel how it woud ultimately end. The author did a great job of getting into the head of a 27-year old who was scared of dying and writing in her voice and I started to understand why she was the way she was at the beginning. Really “fun” story and I gobbled this one up very quickly.
