The Diamond Eye
by Kate Quinn
The tale of a decorated war hero. Mila Pavlochenko. A WWII woman sniper with around 300 confirmed kills. The story is so interesting. This woman really existed and while this is like fan fiction based on her life, it’s so interesting to read about a woman soldier and also about WWII from the point of view of the Russian front. It is well worth the read. And although there is romance and some dramatic liberties, it is much more grounded than Kristin Hannah’s disappointing “The Women”. I think Kate Quinn is a better writer and has done more legitimate historical research.
