City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Okay, so I have said before that my favorite was Simon and will always be. So this book has taken me through the ringer of emotions. I know I should read through the next series, but I do not know if I want to. I swear if the Consul and Clave do not get a literal wakeup call and someone to make them an example, I would have a hard time reading. They are so willing to throw the future under the bus to save their own asses and honor nothing more than tradition. I want to scream. They call themselves brave but they let others do the dirty work and make decisions out of fear. I have to say that I like that the ending was not clean cut and wrapped up in a pretty bow. It was messy and real (as real as fantasy can be). This was the longest book yet and probably could be a bit longer. I am so glad that Jace has found his real self and is comfortable in his awareness. I have made my peace with Jocelyn in this book since I did not much care for her prior to this. I was surprised to find that I mourned characters and became angry with characters that I did not expect to. This last book really flipped things on its head for many of the characters. Last of all, I have to say that one big death in here was so beautiful, and as with everything else in this book, a bit unexpected. This last book was by far my favorite in the series. So sad it had to end.
