reads like a feminist fairytale. the prose is delightful, and contributed a lot to my enjoyment of this book.
the only issue i would raise is that the depictions of sexism sometimes feel a bit contrived, because the author didn't find the right balance between realistic and fairy-talesque for... something like that. it didn't hit the right "pitch" for me, and/or could have been more subtle. admittedly, it is difficult to do, but it made some passages of the book feel really out of place.
