Sleeping Beauties by Owen King, Stephen King
4.0

Sleeping Beauties is a massive novel and a big story!
To be honest, I found that it was very well written (as to be expected from a book by King), the plot was interesting and the message was cleverly presented to the reader. However, I also thought that it was somewhat lengthy and the end was weird (also as to be expected from King haha).

The thought that the world might be a better place if it was shaped by women is very interesting. What would happen if women and men were completely separated from one another? Would one world result in violence and the other in a functioning society? Or does gender not matter when it comes to building a society from scratch? Where does true strength of character stem from?

As I said, I would describe this book mainly as smart and interesting. It almost seems like a gedankenexperiment, not like an actual novel.
Do you need to read it? Probably, it makes you thing about male privilege, gender roles and individuality. Do you want to read it? Probably not if you're a Stephen King fan, it's nothing like his other books (I guess his son wrote almost all of it).

7/10, can recommend if the idea of society construction separated by gender and its impact on the societal structure interests you.
