Started as a 4/5 star and really tapered off by the end. At the beginning it felt like a refreshing story about gender where the trans and queer characters didn’t have to be perfect and could be full, messy people. Around midway I felt like the story was interrupted by preachy messages about gender/discrimination that felt more suited for a nonfic book; they weren’t woven into the story in a natural way.
