Okay, Catherine! Yes, girl!
This was my first novel by Catherine Cowles, and she did NOT disappoint! The way this novel was so beautifully constructed had me drawn in from the prologue and held me captive until the very last page. The plot was an emotional rollercoaster of romance, mystery, and suspense, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Rhodes' and Anson's stories tugged on my heartstrings. Both characters had been through a great deal in their past, and their journey to come out the other side was chef's kiss. I loved the way Catherine brought them together and developed their relationship. Anson is a protector through and through, and he's definitely top-tier book boyfriend material! And, Rhodes? She was so strong and resilient! Also, Catherine did a great job concealing various plot points, as well as the twist at the end. In addition, the found family in this novel has me excited for the novels to come, which I will definitely be reading!
The audiobook narrators, Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber, were a perfect fit for these characters! They did a wonderful job in their performance of this novel, eliciting the emotions and inflections necessary for each scene. They truly transported me into the Sparrow Falls universe. I will definitely be looking for more audiobooks done by these two.
⚠️Warning⚠️
Language, low to medium spice, serial k!ller, gun violence, near death experiences, car accident, loss of family, arson
