The Partner Track by Helen Wan

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Ingrid is on the partner track (omg, that’s the title of the book!) at her law firm. The only female, only Asian, one of only 2 POCs. Her hard work at the firm for nearly 9 years, passing on normal sleep schedules & a social life have all been worth it as long as she gets that Partner title in a few months. She continues to deal with sexism, racism, and office politics that come with being a non-white woman in a white man’s world. Sprinkle in a healthy dose of office romance, tight deadlines, and incompetent team members and we’ve got the whole story.

It was cool to see the inner workings of a law office, the similarities I’ve experienced as a young woman in corporate life and the urge/pressure to be “one of the guys” to succeed in your career is very relatable. This was an easy read that kept me turning the page, it paced very well. That being said, it was relatively unsurprising & predictable and the ending was a bit too “she lived happily ever after” to feel realistic.
