A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
5.0

Game of Thrones is my most favourite TV series ever and I've been hearing about how good the books are and how the show is only a shadow of the brilliance of the books. Now that I've read the first book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire I'm sure that the books are really better than series.
While watching the series itself I was awed by how brilliantly they shadowed a lot of events from the beginning itself but in the book that is much more than in the series. In all the aspects of how the story progresses how we get emotionally attached to the characters etc book works better than the series. Considering that the series was always spectacular shows how brilliant the book is.
But if I was reading this book without watching the series I might not have appreciated it as much I do now because only after reading other books in the series I would've understood the significance of a lot of incidents in this book. But as I've already seen 6 seasons of the series I understood a lot of references which really was a great experience.
