- For a book that describes a "rebellious" main character discovering a secret hidden in her prestigious academic school, it takes this mf like 260 pages to actually delve deep into said secret hidden in her prestigious academy lol
- Like, I'm not kidding when I say like pages 100-250 were just filler descriptions of the schools halls, random activities that the cast gets up to (who I don't care for like at all), useless teaching lessons about art and science that don't bring any nuisance to the non existent themes of the book, and the goddamm weather. Like honey, you're not a news broadcaster.
- This book has more description about useless setting details than actual plot development---its insane.
- the theme is supposed to surround some kind of philosophy that the were all connected by some phasm connection we all have to one another or some shit, but that concept was so pushed back and replaced with random boring Dark Academia trope filler that it seemed like it was only relevant when the author was stuck on what to write next.
- Like they had all these weird introductions about those metal rods and their weird ass seances and even the main character ends up messing up the process but when her roommate suddenly disappears, she doesn't question it? Girl? Like what?
- Also, despite the main characters backstory being an important part of why she doesn't leave the school, it's not expanded upon whatsoever. Like literally all we know is that she and some random girl was in a hotel??? And a guy was there I guess??? But that's literally it. We don't know the true extent of her trauma and why it impacted her so much. It's literally just word of mouth with no substance. And also?? This bitch is dumb. Like she sucks at studying but for some reason she still gets to study at the academy?? If the school preys on vulnerable students, then why is it so fuxking elitist? Also, you're telling me that these pins can like?? Bring people back to life or something?? Like what's up with all these graduates then? There's no secret behind their success then? This is just a project they're just doing for fun? Does Biden have like metal rods in his head or something like wtf.
