Really interesting, but not what I hoped. There wasn’t as much discussion about sex toys through history as I hoped. I wanted to hear more about earlier sex toys and  how they impacted history internationally. This history was more focused on the USA than I was expecting. It spent a lot of time discussing feminism, the disability movement, and the political and social discourse about sex toys as modes of female pleasure. I enjoy reading about all of those things, but I was disappointed in the lack of discussion about other countries. There were times when Lieberman mentioned that other countries are much more accepting of female sexuality and sex toys in general, but we never really learn why or how. A bit disappointed in this book because I worked so hard to track it down to read it, but oh well.
