Before I even start my review I want to praise how the reader was provided a map of the unhabitant island for the special exam and also an exam overview. That's really helpful and makes it easier for me to have a mental image of things too while I read. It also is neatly arranged from first of the map, than the exam overview and lastly the basic and special cards functions. I think it was properly done as all the information for the exam was given in the previous volume, which could be forgotten by some readers who didn't read the next volume shortly afterwards. Nevertheless, I still appreciate it and I'm happy that all the info is secured on some nice looking images which I can always come back to when I forgot something.

This volume was astonishing. I was right with what I wrote in my last review: This was all building up on this exciting volume and it was all worth it! I really enjoyed it, the exam was more complex than last time and it had so much drama. I love drama to be honest and so I really couldn't but seek more of it. Tsukishiro is such a cold-hearted man, I was really concerned near the end about a certain character 'cause of him. I felt a bit dissatisfaction by many great characters like Horikita and Sakayanagi not being mentioned in this volume, especially as Sakayanagi doesn't seem to be that much in the spotlight anymore since the beginning of year two. Though, I am glad that the newly introduced characters for the second year get their chance to shine. The pacing could be interpreted as being a bit off, but I honestly think it needed that slow start to make the ending satisfying. (+ there was something exciting happening around the middle of the book, so it's not like the only things that weren't boring were at the end or something. I myself never saw myself bored by this volume as I knew that it tried to built suspense and action before throwing it at the reader from the very start).

The last 30-25% were really a rollercoaster I was so hyped up and then I realised I did a mistake by a certain assumption which ended up making me feel disappointed, then I was happy again as a certain character I didn't like got put in her place by a new character I like even more now 'cause of this and then in the end I was like ‘Oh what’ and when I realised that this was the last thing for this volume I was like ‘Come on, not a cliffhanger please’ and now I feel empty inside for not knowing what will happen next.

(Slight spoiler:
I thought their fight would be more awesome, it was kinda disappointing in the end, but when I heard about their backstory it made sense
)
