Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak

4.0

An addicting page turner with big twists at the end. The pictures of the kid's drawings are included in the book, which really elevate the story and are an integral part of the book. For this reason I would not recommend it be read as an audiobook.

I almost rated 3 stars even though the read was enjoyable because I found the main character to be unrelatable as she is a slightly dumb Christian recovering drug addict who is a massive people pleaser and is obsessed with Hallmark movies. Oh and she can't even drink coffee because she considers that to be a drug. At one point she people pleases again and has coffee she doesn't want and almost relapses because of it. She is saccharine sweet and her viewpoint as a protagonist made most of the book read like a YA novel.

In the end the well-executed twists and satisfying ending bring this up to 4 star for me. Perfect for an engaging and breezy read that isn't at all predictable.
