Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

4.0

This had a rough start for me, but as in the novel it won me over by the end as we sat with these characters who are held hostage and go back into the things that shape and connect them it becomes a touching, introspective view of life, the things that divide us and the things that connect us.

It is slow, it is confusing at times, as we get people's stories in parts and names afterward. But it is worth it, it adds mystery and intrigue to this tale of idiots. I don't always love his humour but I do like grounded way of talking about hardhitting subjects that are hard to put words to and he does it in translation as well.
