The Grumpy Billionaire by Annika Martin
2.0

This was not good. The hero is an iceberg and the heroine is the manic pixie sent to teach him to loosen up. At first I thought he was supposed to be autistic, but that's not where it ends up. He's just a controlling jerk. I don't understand why the heroine was attracted to him or why she'd want to be with him.

I'm not sure what her being with him gave her. The author seems to imply that she learned spreadsheets when the hero "accidentally" tanked her career and that this was something the heroine needed to be able to do in order to open her own business. It's exactly as dumb as it sounds.

The quirkiness in this is cloying as opposed to endearing. I was done with the cheeseballs. I was done with the hero saying "Relent" in bed. It wasn't sexy. It wasn't funny. It was bananas. The fake pineapple allergy and his coworker's obsession with it was so dumb. And the pinnacle of this was also
just plain stupid. I can't believe I read this whole thing only for the payoff to be so, so weak.

I disliked just about everyone in this, including the heroine. This was the weakest in the series by a country mile. I'll be hesitant to read the next one.
