The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
5.0

for starters, this book has aged incredibly. it’s just as relevant now as it was 70 years ago. it’s relatable, well written and captivating. the book is timeless - this is a story and character that would resonate with any depressed teenager or any isolated teenager. id recommend that any person like that to read this. people who say this book & holden as a character aren’t relevant anymore are out of their minds, if anything, holden and catcher and the rye are more relevant now than ever imo. this book is a spot on depiction of teenage alienation and depression and it’s just on the ball w the way it expresses the feeling of true loneliness. overall it’s one of the best ever classics i’ve read and it’s one of the best coming of age stories i’ve ever read. a new all time favourite of mine too. in conclusion, ppl who don’t like catcher in the rye really are just, phoneys.
