Looking for Alaska by John Green

5.0

Some may know John Green for The Fault in Our Stars but Looking for Alaska, his first novel is a tragic yet inspiring coming-of-age story that is close to his heart. Green went to a similar boarding school and fell in love there too and was quite fond of last words as is the main character Miles. It’s a story of loss, love, mischief, friendship, and the importance of never giving up and asking for help even when it’s difficult. There are memorable quotes throughout and readers will be right there beside Miles and his dear friends who lose faith at times but hold onto the hope of the “Great Perhaps, the last words of poet Francois Rabelais. Looking for Alaska will break your heart but also put the pieces back together and show readers that the way out of the labyrinth isn’t always straight and fast.
